A Costume Party

An untimely gale nearly ruined the greatest costume party ever thrown.

Every summer, Mrs Melitona holds her big costume party in the meadow, with music, cakes, games and dancing. All the inhabitants are invited: the neighbours from the blackberry bush, those from the big apple tree, those from the riverbank, and even those from the well. Each group is identified by a colour, with their tasks and places clearly defined.
Everything seems in order until an untimely gale turns everything upside down. Costumes fly about, colours mix, and identities become confused. What at first seems like chaos turns into a true celebration, where barriers disappear and diversity flourishes.
The colour palette—greens, pinks, blues, yellows—plays an essential narrative role in defining each group of inhabitants. Through delicate watercolours, the illustrator constructs a charming rural world, brimming with details, little stories and endearing characters that invite a leisurely exploration.
