From the very endpapers, Sueño de una sombra begins with an absolute darkness that gradually makes its way toward the light illuminating a door, progressively guiding readers into the interior of an ancient, silent dwelling inhabited only by a magpie that occasionally appears in the brightness or shadows of the rooms.
The variety of perspectives—the zoom effect, the high and low angles that shape the images like film frames—and the rich range of nuances achieved—textures, volumes, reflections, atmospheres—in the depiction of each scene reveal both the meticulous visual structure of the work and the author’s technical mastery.
