Alma del mar

To See the Sea

The story of a little girl who has never seen the sea, and of her dad, who tells her wonderful tales so she can imagine it.

Alma is fascinated by the sea, even though she has never seen it. Her father, a passionate storyteller, takes her on nightly journeys to meet fish, mermaids, seaweed, and sailors. After much planning, Alma and her dad travel to the coast. There, they will share more than just their excitement at seeing the sea.
Inspired by the song ‘Llevarte al mar’ by Honduran singer-songwriter Guillermo Anderson, Alma del mar tells the story of the millions of children who, for a variety of reasons, have been unable to leave their immediate surroundings; and that of their parents, who fight so that their children don’t lose the chance to dream.
